Surprise...our village had a bonfire night in the churchyard on Sunday and we decided to go, as it was promoted as a family night with no loud bangs! and no effigies in sight either. My son really enjoyed the fireworks and my daughter didn't seem fazed at all, and under a big bright full moon.
