Birth charts and life plans

With all my recent heavy feelings and unbelievably (even to me) irritable attitude, I have added the Astrologer to the top of my blogroll, so I can read it more daily to gain more understanding. Astrology has been something I've been interested for as long as I can remember, and yet my delving into it has come in dribs and drabs. I have my own internal understanding of it, but have never really sat down to master it.

I mention this as I have been thinking alot about my son's birth chart. We did this when he was born (seven years ago) on Astrodienst and have used books and other more knowledgeable people to interpret it. One of things that I found troubling was that he is going to have major hurdles in his love/relationship sector. We originally thought this might have to do with the fact that he is a Leo Dragon, a very strong personality type, and not everyone's cup of tea. It would seem now though, that it may run deeper than that. In fact, the Leo Dragon may be a blessing as it gives him strength and self-assuredness in the face of what may be a somewhat debilitating condition.

I took him to the doctor today, seeking a referral on the recommendation of his school. Its not a big surprise really, and I am slowly coming to the realisation that we may have been in some denial. He will be meeting with an educational psychology team to determine if/and/or what is wrong and what can be done to help. My feeling is that it could be Asperberger's syndrome. Although he is not severe, it would make some sense as there is someone in the family with this already. We never made the connection before, or if we did, we submerged the thought. It is possible that its a combination of things. I have considered ADHD, which his teacher last year thought might be a possibility, as there are some elements of that. From what I've read, ADHD often can occur alongside something like Aspergers. It also affects boys at a rate of 10:1.

I believe we unspokenly resisted the idea of an assessment for a long time. We didn't want 'labels' and restrictions or drugs. And who wants to think of their child as having a problem anyway? Over the weekend though, my son came in from playing at the park and was in tears, which he was trying to hide. His 'friends' had turned on him in the presence of older kids, by kicking him and throwing his coat in the field with the cows and calling him names. I don't think I have to say how completely heartbreaking this is to hear as a mother. He has increasingly been singled out for teasing within the past month, which seems to be increasing in proportion to the facial ticks he's developed-- and these seem to become worse with anxiety. Children often outgrow minor ticks so I want to stay positive about that. So now we wait and see.

Feeling Disputatious

Yes that's right, I'm feeling irritable. And as a matter of fact, I have been fractious, fretful, prickly and querulous for about a week now. It is the new moon on Friday which could have something to do with it, a particularly heavy moon. Of course when I mentioned this to one of my schoolmothermates (that's fellow mother's at son's school) she tried her best to look at me as if she wasn't really thinking that I am slightly nutty. Maybe so, but I know I am made up of mostly water and the moon pulls on me the same as the tides in the ocean so why shouldn't that affect me in some way?

My dh found this 'Stellarium' astronomy program that shows the sky in realtime, a planetarium which allows us to watch the cycle of the moon through the planets, and there are some heavy things happening right now. I'm no way an expert in astronomy and I know a little about astrology, but I would say this program is awesome. Its also free. You can plot future days, years even to know what the sky will look like. You can also go back to the day you were born and see the sky as it was then.
In relation to my crabbiness though, a little meditation is in order. I do find it really hard these days. Walking meditation is every bit as beneficial as sitting, and I find walking is a good way of relieving stress. But as I usually have a little one with me, my attention tends to be on her and not really meditating. I have to try and sit while she's napping, if I can manage to ignorre the hundred and one other things that 'need' doing. If I can do that, then maybe I can salvage the rest of this week from the grumpy bin.

Golden Birthday Astrology

Today is my son's 7th birthday, his golden birthday, meaning he is seven on seven. My husband and I already had our golden's at 30 and 20 respectively, and I have always felt it is a really special occasion (once in a lifetime afterall). This is a special turning point in my son's life as well, as seven is considered to be the age of reason (particularly in Steiner education and within developmental psychology), a shift away from little boy, away from any resemblance to toddler/pre-schoolhood.

In Celtic astrology this is the month of the Hazel Tree [5 Aug - 1 Sept], and the druic animal being the Salmon, a very powerful talisman. The Salmon, often known as the 'salmon of knowledge' is considered the oldest and wisest animal in celtic mythology.

Hazel is also considered to be the tree of wisdom, and in olden times it was considered a crime, not to mention terrible luck to fell one. Hazel people are expressive and artistic, and also have analytical minds. They can be well-suited to teaching, but are also radical and idealistic thinkers.

January celtic astrology

My dear daughter will be one year old this month..I really can't believe how quickly the time has gone, which reminds me that taking time off 'work' isn't a bad thing at all, as this precious time never returns to you.

So here's the celtic astrology for January.
24 December to 20 January is the celtic Birch tree month. The Druids celebrated the Birch tree as a representation of renewal, being the first tree in leaf after winter. Birch people are determined and ambitious, often natural leaders and are not deterred by setbacks.
The Druic animal is The White Stag and the planetary ruler is the Sun.
The stag symbolizes high ideals, Birch people need a goal in life to keep from becoming depressed.

This month also covers 21 January to 17 February, the celtic Rowan Tree month. Rowans were once planted near doors and gates to ward off evil and were believed to guard the entrance to the spirit world. Rowan people are idealistic and progressive thinkers with strong humanitarian and spiritual ideals. They thrive on change, are artistic and original.

The Druic animal is The Dragon and planetary ruler is Uranus. The dragon symbolizes inspiration and imagination. Rowans need an outlet for their intense imagination, otherwise they can become restless and quarrelsome.

Birthdays

It is my birthday this month and I also know quite a number of saggitarians so here's a little celtic astrology for the month.

Nov 25 - Dec 23 is the celtic Elder tree month which was sacred to the faeries and branches were hung above stables to protect the horses from evil. It was considered unlucky to burn elder and an omen of death to bring it indoors! Elder people are lively and self-sufficient, and dislike routine. They tend to be highly energetic and thrive on change, needing constant mental and physical challenge.

Planetary Ruler = Saturn Druic animal is the raven, which symbolizes healing and protection- Elders must learn to use change as a positive force in their lives or they can become reckless and confused.

Dec 24 - Jan 20 is the celtic Birch tree month. In ancient times the Birch represented birth and renewal as it was the first tree in leaf after winter. Birch people are determined, ambitious and resilient, natural leaders and good organizers. They are not deterred by setbacks and believe in hard work and patience. They are loyal, but can be reserved in expressions of affection.
Planetary ruler = Sun Druic animal is the white stag. This symbolizes high ideals and aspirations. Birch people need a goal in life or they can become depressed and pessimistic.
